During your annual assessment, we spend time reviewing your personal, physical, psychological, social and family history.  We also do a detailed assessment of your past and present health in order to determine which issues need to be assessed and pursued in more detail.  We decide together what steps we can take, now and in the future, to move towards a healthier lifestyle. Throughout the process we address your risk factors to establish how we can help you become proactive in your own health care.  During your annual visit we also do a comprehensive physical examination, along with blood work, electrocardiogram, BMI, vision and hearing testing. All the results are compiled and presented in a comprehensive dossier along with our wellness and preventative medicine recommendations.

The Genesis Professional Group includes a registered dietitian, holistic nutritionist, Doctor of naturopathic medicine, chiropractor/acupuncturist, osteopath, psychologist, social workers, professional fitness trainers, and an instructor in yoga and Pilates.

As part of your annual assessment, you have a certain number of credits towards meeting some of the allied health professionals. The decision on who to see is made collaboratively with your Genesis physician based on each individual’s health needs and interests.

You can continue to see any of the allied health professionals for ongoing consultations on a fee-for-service basis that you arrange with the individual allied health professional.

Any visit concerning an illness, whether physical or emotional, is deemed “medically necessary” and is therefore covered by OHIP.

Your personal Genesis physician is available to you outside of office hours in the evening and weekends for urgent medical problems.

We have five Genesis physicians who are happy to cover for one another when one of them is away.  However, when possible and most often Genesis physicians will keep their laptops and cell phones accessible so they can be reached and remain in close contact with the office.

Our publicly funded healthcare system is being challenged with long wait times for medical testing and specialist consultations. Outside of the Genesis Clinic we cannot guarantee quick or easy access to any service.  However, our Genesis physicians are well-respected within the healthcare community and are comfortable to advocate for their clients when necessary and help them navigate through the complex maze of the healthcare system. In addition, we have relationships with a number of specialists and hospitals outside of Ontario and Canada and are happy to facilitate medical care and opinions with them when appropriate.
